COVID-19 Update: Further extensions of time up to July 17, 2020
Today, June 30, 2020, the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) announced yet another extension of time in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, to include the period up to July 17, 2020. This means that most deadlines for taking action before CIPO falling within the time period beginning on March 16, 2020 and ending on July 17, 2020, are now deemed extended to Monday, July 20, 2020.
CIPO has not yet indicated if this will be the final extension period granted, but is monitoring provincial and federal guidelines and will review procedures as the situation continues to unfold. We are advised however, that CIPO has agreed to a two-week notice period once they decide to end the extensions.
CIPO remains open and in operation at this time. While clients should expect delays with respect to some services, CIPO has gradually resumed most of its activities.
Please contact an agent at Cassan Maclean IP Agency Inc. with any questions you may have. We remain fully operational to serve our clients remotely during this difficult time.
