Lynn is an electrical engineer and her engineering training and work experience has been focussed in the telecommunications industry. Prior to becoming a lawyer she was employed in Ottawa by Bell Northern Research (later Nortel Networks) where she participated in a number of projects involving both hardware and software design.
Lynn holds a J.D. degree from the University of Toronto where she graduated in 1983. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1985. Her practice covers all aspects of patent and trademark law, including prosecution before the Patent, Industrial Design and Trademark Offices and adversarial matters including litigation in the Federal Court. Lynn has appeared before the Federal Court and Ontario Supreme Court on numerous occasions for motions and trials. She has chaired the Licensing Committee of the Patent and Trademark Institute of Canada (now IPIC) and served a three year term as a member of the Patent Agents Examining Board. For the first several years following its inception, Lynn was a member of the faculty of the McGill-IPIC intensive patent course given each summer at Montreal's McGill University. Lynn started her practice with a predecessor firm of Cassan Maclean where she became partner with Scott Maclean in 1993.
